Scottish Government Building Standards Division
Building Standards Division of the Scottish Government is responsible for building standards policy and legislation; for the review and development of technical standards and for the co-ordination and management of building research programmes. The Division ensures effective operation of the Building (Scotland) Act and handles all relaxations and views cases. It is also responsible for implementing the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and Construction Products Regulations in Scotland and liaises closely with England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Local Authority Building Standards Scotland – LABSS
LABSS is an organisation which represents all 32 Scottish Local Authority Building Standards Services.
Our membership consists of Local Authority employees who are primarily engaged in the provision of Building Standards services.
The primary aim of LABBS is to promote a culture of continuous improvement and the achievement of best value principles in the delivery of a Local Authority Building Standards service.
