Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering

The Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering is a private association founded by the nine Austrian Laender. It is responsible for any co-ordination in the construction field, especially with regard to legislation, standardisation and approvals. The OIB represents the Laender in the Standing Committee on Construction and in Expert Groups within the European Commission. Furthermore, OIB is European Technical Assessment Body and a member of the European Organisation for Technical Assessments (EOTA). OIB is also responsible for the drafting of OIB guidelines which serve as building codes for the Austrian provinces (Laender). In addition, the Product Contact Point for construction and the market surveillance authority for construction products are situated in OIB.
